On 22nd June 2022, Zhang Yinjun, Chairwoman of Beijing Changier Education Foundation, was invited to attend the 50th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council and delivered a video talk on the urgent needs to protect the most basic rights of children.
In her speech, Zhang Yinjun pointed out that “a chain of events featuring trafficking and sexual exploitation of children in recent years has caused public outrage around the world. From UN Secretary-General Guterres, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom to people across the world, zero tolerance against such crime has become a universally-accepted consensus." She added, "As a woman and a leader of a non-profit organization who has engaged in the protection of women's and children's rights for a long time, I condemn with the utmost indignation the trafficking and sexual exploitation, abuse and discrimination of children that are taking place anywhere in the world.”
Zhang Yinjun urged that “legislation and punishment is no longer enough to curb the spread of such crimes. Strengthening sex education for children and enhancing their awareness and ability to protect themselves is a fundamental step. The role of mothers in protecting children is irreplaceable in this regard. The experience of Beijing Changier Education Foundation can be shared with the world.”
