Beijing Changier Education Foundation, an international non-governmental organization, holds a Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2019 and is recognized as a nationally acclaimed 5A-rated public foundation in China.
Established in 2014, the Foundation builds on nearly two decades of experience in youth education and public health. Its work originates from the China Youth AIDS Prevention and Education Project, launched in 2006, which pioneered school-based approaches to HIV prevention and comprehensive youth education.
Guided by the mission to promote education grounded in care, dignity, and responsibility, Beijing Changier Education Foundation is committed to making love-centered, life-oriented education accessible to all, especially young people and vulnerable communities. We believe education is not only about knowledge, but also about empathy, well-being, and the capacity to care for oneself and others.
Our programs are delivered through schools and community-based platforms, combining education on public health, age-appropriate sexuality education, mental health, family and maternal education, ethical values, traditional culture, and social responsibility. A distinctive feature of our work is the establishment of learning and support spaces such as Youth Love Hubs and Maternal Love Academies, which serve as centers for teacher training, curriculum development, expert lectures, student outreach, and assistance for children in difficult circumstances.
To date, the Foundation has supported the establishment of 1,416 Youth Love Hubs and 219 Maternal Love Academies across schools and communities in China and Indonesia, along with additional 114 project bases and working cities. We have trained over 25,000 educators, aided more than 37,400 children in vulnerable situations, and reached over 33 million students, teachers, and parents. Our flagship public-interest initiative, Education of Love on Campus, has received the China Charity Award, the country’s highest national recognition for philanthropic impact.
The Foundation’s youth sexuality education and HIV prevention model has received strong recognition at both national and international levels. In 2014, the program was formally acknowledged by senior Chinese government leaders. In 2016, Michel Sidibé, then United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNAIDS, praised the initiative as one of the most important and courageous efforts in public health education, noting that integrating HIV prevention and sexuality education into school curricula addresses risk “at its source” and offers an experience worthy of global replication.
As an ECOSOC-accredited organization, Beijing Changier Education Foundation is committed to constructive multilateral engagement, evidence-based practice, and meaningful youth participation in global dialogue. We work to bridge local innovation and global policy platforms, contributing practical experience and youth-centered perspectives to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
