On July 24, Peng Liyuan, World Health Organization (WHO) goodwill ambassador for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 "Love Under the Sun" summer camp at the Museum of Chinese Scientists in Beijing, launching the camp together with the young participants. Shen Hongbing, deputy director of the National Health Commission and director of the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, and Feng Shenhong, vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, also attended the event.

A video showcasing highlights from the summer camp's 16 years was played at the opening ceremony. Young campers from Shanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, and other regions performed programs and joined games together with children's representatives from Beijing, expressing their gratitude for the care and concern shown by the Party, the government, and all sectors of society.

Before the opening ceremony, Peng Liyuan visited a themed exhibition together with the young campers, learning about the outstanding achievements of Chinese scientists and the development of China's scientific undertakings. Peng Liyuan encouraged the young campers to learn from the valuable spirit of scientists, strengthen their ideals, study diligently, dare to explore, pursue their dreams, and strive to grow into pillars of the motherland.

The "Love Under the Sun" summer camp was launched in 2010 by the Chinese Association of STD & AIDS Prevention and Control and the Chinese Center for Health Education. With active support from Party committees and governments at all levels, as well as broad participation from all sectors of society, the camp has for many consecutive years invited children affected by HIV/AIDS to go on educational visits and experience the warmth of society.

Representatives from relevant fields of HIV/AIDS prevention and control, as well as Red Ribbon health ambassadors, also attended the event.
