At 23:59 on December 18, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province. As of the evening of the 20th, the 6.2-magnitude earthquake in Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province has resulted in 113 fatalities in Gansu and 22 fatalities in Haidong, Qinghai Province, with 12 people missing. Some basic infrastructure such as water, electricity, transportation, and communication in both areas have been damaged.
Following the earthquake, the Beijing Changier Education Foundation promptly contacted various parties to understand the earthquake situation and develop assistance plans. Chairwoman Zhang Yinjun took the lead in making a donation and promptly issued a call for assistance to the entire Changier system nationwide. Teachers, parents, and volunteers from APEPCY's national bases and workstations, as well as caring individuals from all walks of life, have responded enthusiastically. Among them, Yu Hongqi and his wife Sun Mei donated RMB 20,000. Mr. Li Xianfeng, principal of Dalian Sun Valley (Huaxia) School, took the lead in setting an example, with the National Mingde System of APEPCY fully participating. Parents of the Qilu Huaxia School passed on an act of kindness by collectively donating more than RMB 17,000.
After assessing the disaster situation, the Beijing Changier Education Foundation has decided to donate the first batch of RMB 200,000 to the earthquake-affected areas in Gansu and Qinghai provinces to support the local earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction.
Coordinated by the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, the Beijing Changier Education Foundation, in conjunction with the Youth Work Committee of the CAPD's Shaanxi Provincial Committee and through the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CAPD and the Gansu Society for Promotion of the Guangcai Program, promptly allocated charity funds of RMB 200,000 representing the love and blessings from all sides to the disaster area for the purchase of emergency rescue supplies.
