On July 18th, 2016, the five-day 21st International AIDS Conference opened in Durban, South Africa. With the theme of "Access Equal rights now", the conference focused on how to eliminate AIDS globally by 2030.
18000 people from all over the world, including politicians, scientists, medical workers, representatives of social organizations, and representatives of AIDS infected attended the meeting.
Dr. Chen Zhongdan, member of the APEPCY Expert Committee,Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser and Strategic Information Adviser of UNAIDS,attended the conference on behalf of APEPCY. He introduced the history and current situation of APEPCY to social organizations around the world and shared his views with the media.
The purpose of APEPCY participating in the AIDS Conference in South Africa was to share its history, seek international cooperation and let the world know the “Changier Hut” model. It also laid a foundation for in-depth cooperation with international institutions on sex education and AIDS prevention in the future.
