Address by Ban Ki-moon, Eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations
On September 10, 2025, the Second International
Civil Society Solidarity Conference on the Global Develepment Initiative,
co-hosted by China NGO Network for International Exchanges and the People's
Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, opened ceremoniously in Hohhot.
The state attaches great importance to this conference, with Xiao Jie, Vice
Chairperson of the National People's Congress and President of the China NGO
Network for International Exchanges, attending the opening ceremony in person
and delivering a keynote speech. He pointed out that development is an eternal
theme of human society, and that China has always been an active advocate for
promoting global development and will unswervingly expand high-level opening-up
to the outside world, deepen the integration of interests with various
countries, share the development opportunities of Chinese-style modernization,
and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Beijing Changier Education Foundation was
invited to participate in the conference for its long-term commitment to youth
health education and public welfare innovation, actively promoting the
achievement of global development goals, which aligns with the conference theme.
Zhang Yinjun, Founder and President of Beijing Changier Education Foundation,
and Wang Changkun, Director of the International Affairs Department, represented
the Foundation at the conference, joining over 300 guest representatives from
more than 50 countries worldwide to explore global development issues. Important
guests including Vlavonou, Speaker of the National Assembly of Benin, Ban
Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ouch Borith, First
Vice President of the Senate of Cambodia, and Sun Shaocheng, Party Secretary of
the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, delivered speeches one after another. Ban
Ki-moon particularly emphasized that global progress in implementing the UN 2030
Sustainable Development Agenda is seriously lagging behind, with only 17% of
targets being achieved on schedule. He called on civil society to step up
efforts in knowledge exchange, partnership building, and open dialogue to
contribute to promoting global sustainable development.

The conference featured rich content, including opening ceremonies, practical cooperation networking sessions, and forums for sharing ideas and concepts, fully demonstrating the positive role of civil society in global development. The atmosphere at the pragmatic cooperation docking meeting was vibrant, with nearly a hundred domestic economic and trade enterprises engaging in discussions with foreign guests on cooperation in healthcare, education, technology, and other fields. Multiple international cooperation agreements were successfully signed on-site, spanning various sectors including oil and natural gas, mobile healthcare, and handicrafts. Inner Mongolia's distinctive local industries, such as cashmere products and mamianqun (horse-face skirts), received high praise from international guests at the exhibition, propelling Chinese traditional culture and competitive industries onto the international stage. The event also featured cultural activities with ethnic characteristics, where guests experienced traditional folk performances such as Mongolian wrestling, horse racing, and archery, further promoting intercultural exchanges and friendship among nations.

It is worth mentioning that President Zhang Yinjun also presented a heartfelt letter to former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, expressing her respect for Ban Ki-moon's long-term commitment to promoting global charitable causes and inviting Ban Ki-moon and his wife to participate in Changier's future philanthropic activities. The letter recalled Mrs. Ban Ki-moon's support and encouragement for the Nishan World Women's Forum in 2016, demonstrating the Beijing Changier Education Foundation's deep expertise and global influence in international women's and youth affairs.
Beijing Changier Education Foundation not only
reconnected with many longtime international partners, but also met numerous
enterprises passionate about public welfare and representatives of companies
expanding globally. All parties actively discussed future collaboration to
explore innovative combinations of "new business and new philanthropy",
contributing greater wisdom and strength to global development. Being invited to
participate in this global civil society gathering represents high recognition
of the Beijing Changier Education Foundation's past work. Beijing Changier
Education Foundation will use this conference as a new starting point to
continue deepening international exchanges and cooperation, and actively promote
