Editor's Note: The 1990 United Nations World Summit of Heads of Government pointed out regarding women and children issues: to educate a mother is to educate an entire family; to educate all mothers is to educate all of humanity.
At the Global Summit of Women on October 13
this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping, on behalf of the Chinese government,
put forward four proposals on the development of the global women's cause,
explicitly stating that "China is committed to integrating women's cause into
the broad practice of Chinese-style modernization." Beijing Changier Education
Foundation and Taining Jingxin Culture Association were "in perfect sync" and
became the fastest to act: the day after the meeting, a delegation of six
arrived in Taining, Fujian, to conduct a national training program for directors
of Maternal Love Academies; five days after the meeting, the Maternal Love
Academy training base of epochal significance was officially inaugurated.
On the morning of October 20, the "Beijing
Changier Education Foundation Maternal Love Academy Training Base" was
officially unveiled at Ganlu Courtyard by Dajin Lake in Taining, Fujian, located
in the core area of the World Natural Heritage site "China Danxia". Zhang
Yinjun, President of the Beijing Changier Education Foundation, and Professor Ji
Qun simultaneously pulled the rope. As the red silk slowly fell, the wooden
plaque for the base, personally inscribed by Professor Ji Qun, was revealed.
The establishment of the Maternal Love Academy Training Base represents a key strategic initiative by the Foundation's Board of Directors and has received strong support from Director Zheng Yingmin. This base was jointly established by the Beijing Changier Education Foundation and the Taining Jingxin Culture Association, aiming to inherit and promote traditional Chinese culture through maternal love education and training, and to enhance family education and adolescent mental health. President Zhang Yinjun presented the letter of appointment to Hui Ran, Director of the Base. Gao Shunqun, Strategic Advisor to Beijing Changier Education Foundation and Deputy Director of the Center for Cross-Civilization Dialogue Studies at Shandong University, Guo Yang, Director of Beijing Changier Education Foundation, Xiao Yu, former reporter at Shanghai Radio Station and National First-Class Editor, Du Mei, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Beijing Changier Education Foundation and Deputy Dean of Maternal Love Academy, Wang Lingling, Deputy Secretary-General of Beijing Changier Education Foundation and Deputy Dean of Maternal Love Academy, together with over 50 deans of Maternal Love Academy and association volunteers, witnessed this historic moment.
President Zhang Yinjun and Professor Ji Qun
delivered speeches at the unveiling ceremony.
In her speech, President Zhang Yinjun
emphasized that the Global Summit of Women holds milestone significance for the
world and also provides valuable guidance for the development of the Maternal
Love Academy Training Base. She borrowed from Wang Anshi's "Song of Sweet Dew"
from the Song Dynasty, extolling this place as an earthly paradise and
educational haven that "should not exist in the mortal world" and is "known only
to old friends". She said that by implementing maternal love education amidst
mountains and waters, mothers worldwide can find peace of body and mind, wash
away their troubles, and grow in wisdom. This not only provides invaluable
support for women's physical and spiritual cultivation in today's turbulent
world, but also broadens the horizons of children's future lives, which is
precisely the goal that the Maternal Love Academy has consistently pursued since
launching its maternal love education programs.
Professor Ji Qun holds high hopes for the
future of the base. In his speech, he emphasized four times that the cooperative
establishment of the base "is of great significance". He pointed out that both
sides share a common mission and vision: to inherit and promote the spirit of
"love" and "compassion" from China's excellent traditional culture, and to bring
more warmth and harmony to humanity and the world. He hopes that both sides will
join hands not only to contribute to the spiritual development, character
building, and sense of purpose of modern people, but also to shape the cultural
character of the Chinese people through Eastern wisdom and to offer Chinese
solutions for the future development of a world in conflict.
The millennium-long dialogue among
Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism has forged the wisdom gene of "harmony in
diversity" in traditional Chinese culture. Through their integration, the three
teachings have nurtured a symbiotic system of "governing the world, governing
the body, and governing the mind", ultimately crystallizing into the Chinese art
of living: "engaging with the world to cultivate oneself and harmonize one's
family, withdrawing from it to attain spiritual freedom and enlightenment".
Professor Ji Qun has conducted in-depth and systematic research on traditional
Chinese culture for many years. He believes that Chinese culture, from
cultivating oneself and managing one's family to governing the state and
bringing peace under heaven, from personal conduct to practical affairs,
positions the family as the crucial link connecting the individual, society, and
the world. The bonds between family members and the establishment of shared
beliefs and values all rely on the transmission of culture. To this end, the
association has not only established a special program for family education but
also developed numerous projects related to Zen-inspired living, which aligns
perfectly with the goals of the Maternal Love Academy. He hopes that in the
future, both parties will collaborate to develop more courses, allowing more
families to experience inner peace, nurture their spirits, and flourish with
beauty and serenity in life. And this is precisely what has been overlooked in
past global development and is especially needed in today's world.
It is reported that the base will be rooted in
traditional Chinese culture and integrated with the wisdom of Zen living,
creating a cultural space for Maternal Love Academies across regions to explore
the philosophical thoughts of ancient sages and experience the rhythm of life,
thus giving wings to more families and children to soar. At the ceremony, Zhang
Yinjun happened to meet a mother of seven and had a heartfelt conversation with
her. Zhang Yinjun hopes that everyone here can create wonderful lives for
mothers around the world and contribute wisdom and strength to maternal love
education for humanity.
"With perseverance in action, fragrance will naturally emerge over time." After the ceremony concluded, this powerful ancient maxim that Zhang Yinjun shared with everyone and used to inspire herself continued to resonate deeply in everyone's hearts.
